I'm moving house imminently & would love to grow just a very small number of things initially - what sort of things could I plant at this time of year?

    To eat, to look at?
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

to eat would be good - but it feels too late in the year to start anything now!
    Will herbs establish now?

    Salad, salad and more salad!
    Radish always work well.
Carrots - a quick growing variety and of course herbs (Basil, Thyme, Parsley, etc)
You could even put a few potatoes in - you might not be able to get hold of seed potatoes now but just a few organic spuds and pop them in - less chance of diseases that way. They will be ready in the autumn.
    Kale is another possibility.

    Good luck :D

There's loads of stuff you can still sow.

    Yep.

My coriander seeds planted last week are shooting up.

I tend to take cuttings of lavender and rosemary in late August/September if I want to grow plants but don't harvest them until the next year.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
