Hi
I am trading in my car which is truly only good for scrap.
The garage I am getting the new car from has offered me £250 trade in value.
Am I likely to get more for scrap?
It is an X reg Skoda Fabia if that makes a difference?
Additionally, does it matter who I approach to take it, or can I just google and go
Thanks

You could ask how much more they will give you off the new car if you don't trade in the Skoda. Then Ebay it as spares or repair for more than the difference.:)0 -

they have already knocked a wedge off it..........I only mentioned about the car, and very much got the impression they were doing me a favour by offering me £250
Which to be fair, they might well be, as the car is completely knackered and needs new everything. Well, the steering wheel is ok :rotfl:0 -

Exactly. They will send it for scrap so they are effectively giving you £250 less the scrap value. If scrap value is, say, £100 then they should be more than willing to give you an extra £150 off the price for not trading it in. Then you have to sell it for more than £100 to make a turn. It's about you making the effort to dispose of it not them. In reality I would want to make at least an extra £100 feel it had been worth the hassle.0 -
I'd be surprised if it went for scrap, some will probably buy it and spend a bit on doing it up. It isn't that old.0
