halifax balance v available balance

im getting myself totally confused looking at these 2 figures.
my balance is £157 less than my avail.balance.
also have a £500 overdraft (which is included in avail.balance) am i right?

im confused as to which means what

does that mean amount in balance is my cash to spend?

The words Available balance are followed by an asterisk (*):

* Your Available Balance includes any overdraft facility you may have arranged on this account.

So yes, the available balance is what you can spend.

Sometimes card payments will earmark the funds in your account before the money is actually taken, for example it will say your balance is £1000 but your available balance is £900 because you have just made a £100 card payment.

Your balance is the actual amount of money in your account at the money.
Your available balance is the amount of money the bank will let you withdraw (after pending payments and overdrafts have been taken into account).
