thanks the search ID: 84056765 has now disappeared but was there just less than an hour ago.

never mind, it's not important, but was worth checking just in case I'd been compromised.

Link's definitely knackered. I'm assuming the search has either expired (it links to a search number rather than a url with search terms in it) or that you've got a cookie that allows you to see the search, and you only.

I'd imagine they'd do it this way to stop someone (a) going through search results sequentially to see what people are searching for, and (b) because the same searches are done over and over again, so the site can cache them. Someone's looking for tesco direct free delivery, show them the cached results for search 5635836221 to save putting extra load on the database servers.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Links work fine for me (no av s/w as i'm using centos atm)

try this search (for computers) and see if it appears: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search.php?searchid=84064195

if it doesn't then i'd imagine that the vbulletin software does it for security/privacy reasons

What I did was to respond to your #2 post by putting Microsoft phone scam into the search box, then posting the URL so all occurrences of the question were all found in one place.

It's a new one on me but it looks like your right, and the vbulletin software [ after a period of maintainable time ] does it for security/privacy reasons.

    Thanks everyone !

  • I've had a couple of these calls. I normally ask them when the message was downloaded to "Microsoft".

If they ask for details I say you should have them. I like to keep them on the line for as long as possible, ask what I have to do to sort the problem.

Them I ask if the same applies to a Mac, then all I hear is a click as they end the call. :(
