preferably a Bosch as people at MSE recommend them. Any good vouchers out there for any of the electrical retailers?

Mines just blown up, and the washing mountain is getting bigger by the day!:o

    Thx

Bosch machines are great in my experience. Search on Kelkoo, Pricerunner and uk.shopping.com and you'll find the best price without needing a voucher.

I have just stumbled upon this site:

    http://www.madaboutbargains.co.uk/coupons/Coupon_Crazy.htm

whilst looking for a code for vue cinemas, and noticed they have various Currys codes including 10% off washers.

Good luck! Now, back to looking for a code for Vue Cinemas!

  • Right then, after lots of deliberation, we decided to go for a washer dryer, and as we couldn't find a cheap BOSCH, we decided to take most peoples advice, and go for the cheapest, "as you'll need to replace it in a couple of years anyway"....So.......

Currys are doing the Servis M9503W Washer Dryer, for £269, which seemed like good value to start with. I also paid £4.99 to scrap my old one, think I can install it myself rather than pay £18.

    Ths discounts I found were:

    Quidco for 2%
10% of washer dryers at Currys - £26.90 off
Currys Free Delivery code - £16.95 off
    £20 off code as well.

So the total, delivered, and getting my old one taken away is £227.09.

Thanks to everyone for their help!
  • Hi, what is the free currys delivery code please, im after a dishwasher:)
  • I've PM'd you
  • I know you have probably already bought the WD but for what it is worth I would advise against a washer dryer (in mine and my sister-in-laws experience anyway). Clothes take ages to dry, in the end never bothered used the drying option on mine and there is more that can go wrong with them.

My sensor dryer is the biz!

    Right, just been and looked.
Costco have a WhirlpoolWashing MAchine, model number AWO/D 4505. Normal price is £199.99 plus VAT. From Sept 18 to Sept 24, there is a £40 off coupon, making it £159.99 plus VAT (£187.99 incl VAT)
    Description in Passport is:
Spin speed 1200rpm, 5kg max load, 6thSense technology, Energy Efficiency Rating A, Wide Opening Door, H=850, W=595, D=540

Does anyone have an opinion on this washer? We are looking for a new washer as our Hoover appears to be on its last legs (it doesn't complete some of the cycles unless the control is manually moved around). I don't suppose we can complain as we've had it for 20 years. In that time my brother and his wife have got through 4 (or is it 5?) machines.

Sorry never had a whirlpool. I like you had a Hoover that lasted forever, followed by a Bosch (dreadful) and I now have a Zanussi. The features on the Zanussi are great i.e. you can pause to open the door if you've forgotton to put something in, lots of choice of washs and you can set a 14 hour delay for start. Bad point is the quickest wash at 40 degrees with a 1200 spin is 52 minutes. Normal wash at this temperate is 206 minutes (the display shows the wash time). My Hoover had a 30 min quick wash and that was 20 years ago, it was also hot and cold fill. Bosch and Zanussi both cold fill only which makes them slower.

The staff in Comet and Currys (no choice of suppliers here) were obviously bull!!!!ting me then when I bought my Zanussi. I didn't think to ask when I bought the Bosch (HOF) but did when I was looking for a new machine. They told me that all machines were now cold fill due to some EU regulation. I do have the fittings for both hot and cold on my machine (and I think it did on the bosch too) but it only took from the cold inlet. I called out the engineer with my Bosch when I realised it was only cold filling and he confimed it was only designed to take from the cold inlet as was common in the EU.

This is quite good for advice on choosing a washing machine. Seems cold fill is becoming the norm.
