Now DS has finished his first degree and as he has no immediate working future he starts by living at home and claiming JSA.
How can he claim rent charged to him by his ever loving parents?

Who isn't eligible
You can't usually get Housing Benefit if:- you have savings of over £16,000, unless you are getting the 'guarantee credit' of Pension Credit
- you live in the home of a close relative
- you're a full-time student (unless you're disabled or have children)
- you're an asylum seeker or are sponsored to be in the UK

He can't claim rent in this situation but he should be paying for his food and his share of the bills out of his JSA: this is what he gets it for.0

if he's actually using JSA as he should then he's obviously looking for work.
maybe you could be more supportive by not charging him rent until he finds a job?0 -

I'm going to confidently assume you didn't rent his room out while he was at univeristy, so I doubt you need the money, so all you are encouraging him to do is rely on the state for your own gain hidden in a lesson in tough love?0

He can't. Why the hell should we pay for you to house your child? Disgusting.0
