Removing lpg kit from car - will the kit sell?
Options
I've swapped cars and my new one's a diesel so I'm thinking of having the lpg conversion taken off my old one with a view to selling it. It'll cost £100 for the guy who fitted it to take it off again. Has anyone had luck in selling a used system and can anyone suggest a better place to sell it than ebay? The guy who's removing it's not interested in buying it. It cost £1800 to have it fitted but if it doesn't fetch more than a hundred quid I'll have wasted my money having it taken off.

I'd say the money it would add to your old cars value will almost certainly outweigh any money made selling it individually. Just out interest what vehicle is it on at the moment?0

It's on a Xsara Picasso. We're part-exing the car so we've only got a couple of days to decide what to do. Just thought it might make enough for a couple of tanks of diesel but as I say anything less than £100 and it won't be worth my while having it taken off.0

Pot luck if selling on ebay, You might get a good price. But paying £100 to have it removed is risky.
If a few people live local enough & want it badly enough you might get a good price. Postage will
be costly.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It depends which make of kit it is. More popular top end kits will sell either in full or as spares, but if you dismiss ebay, not sure how you expect to offer it?
Mind you, you can't be that short of cash if you've bought a diesel when you've paid £1800 for an LPG conversion and 55 to 60p a litre against £1.20?? Why convert in the first place?0 -

To be honest Tucker, I can't see what my financial situation has to do with you. If I wanted people to comment on my finances I'd post on one of the financial boards. As it is all I wanted was advice about lpg not for someone to make assumptions about me.0 -
And what have the garage given you in part exchange for the Picasso if you don't mind me asking. having an LPG conversion will make the car easier for them to move on but i doubt they've factored this into the part ex price.0

You're whole post is about finance is it not?It cost £1800 to have it fitted but if it doesn't fetch more than a hundred quid I'll have wasted my money having it taken off.
Merely pointing out the money was wasted having it put on in the first place....... clearly a touchy subject0
