Gap to fill!

Has anyone got any ideas on how to fill gaps in a kitchen? I have a 50cm oven in a 60cm gap and the same gap with a fridge and the wall. The fridge gap isn't so bad as I've popped some seagrass containers in the gap on top of each other, more decorative I suppose but it works. The oven is the main problem as crumbs keep falling down the gap and it's just a useless waste of space.
Any ideas on what I can put there?

For the front..piece of matching plinth cut to size and attached from behind so no visible fixings (or if you can't get away with no visible fixings use mirror screws or plastic screw tops). For top new section of worktop or maybe a few 10cm tiles on top of MDF/plywood.

To be honest without replacing a complete section of worktop together with a fillet anything other than that suggested by Tucker will be and probably look like a bodge and you'll be hating it for ever.
