Advice on which tradesmen could fit gates

Purchased some 4'6" high metal gates for front of house and repainted them.
The gates that are currently on are wood and 6" lower but same length, but we need the posts extending to compensate for the fittings on the new gates.
Rang a few companies who advertise but won't do the job unless we purchase the gates from them as well. Would a fitter do this kind of work per chance? Any suggestions welcome

Builder/carpenter or a fencing contractor could probably all help you in this case.
It kind of falls within some part of each of their remits.0 -
Thanks Alan, we've already tried a fencing contractor and they gave us a quote of £130 to extend the posts and put fittings on to match up with gates, seems a bit steep when there's not much labour involved.
I'll try a builder out of the local paper and get a quote.0 -
If it takes a guy half a day to drive there, get set up , extend the posts, hang the gates drive back home £130 isn't unreasonable.
How big are the gates, can one person handle them or will it take two guys to hang them? In which case £130 looks cheap.....0 -

This guy lives a mile away and it would take him 5 minutes tops to arrive. the gates are only 4'6" high and 4" wide so can be managed by one person.
I'll get some other quotes and see whats the best price I can get. Thanks for your suggestions.0 -
Make sure that they're I'MGAF accredited (Institute of Master Gate Fitters) and maybe check that they offer a "throughgate" guarantee.Happy chappy0
