No Claims Discount nightmare, help please?
Options
It was recently time to renew my car insurance, and like a true MSEer, I shooped around for the best deal and this turned out to involve changing insurance companies.
My car insurers last year were Tesco, and the year before that it was the Post Office. When I took out the Tesco insurance, the Post Office confirmed to Tesco that I had 9 years' worth of No Claims Discount. BUT, on Tesco policies, they give maximum NCD at 5 years+. So, they recorded "5 years" NCD. On my renewal notice from Tesco, it states "premium with 6 years No Claims Discount". BUT - I haven't claimed in the last year! I actually have 10 years' NCD. This is what I based the new insurance on.
Now the new insurers want proof of my NCD (10 years). Help? Will they accept proof from the PO of 9 years (if they still have records, which I'm not sure they would have) and confirmation from Tesco that I haven't claimed in the last year? Because the Tesco renewal notice states 6 years only.
Anyone have any experience of this? Help please!

But was it worth the trouble for £2.71?0 -
I had the same issue when I changed from Tesco to LV. Do what I did and give them a call and ask them for a letter stating your actual NCD figure based on what you had before going to Tesco. I went into Tesco with 9 years myself and got them to send me a letter out with the real figure, although I think it said 9+ years rather than 10 but I didn't arguing the toss after that.0

It wasn't the £2.71
It's the fact that I'd go from something like 17 years NCD to 7.
Also RAC may also have recorded that I had misdeclared NCD and make it difficult for any future claim or policy.
Trouble? one phone call and then posting the letter to the new company.

It's a bit early since the insurance database has only been going for 5? years. Pretty soon your history from cradle to grave will be indelibly fixed on the system, good thing too :T:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
