Advice on broken oven

  • Please be aware that electricity is very dangerous & can kill you so be sure to switch off the cooker at the wall before you attempt to remove any part of it!

On my Indesit built in fan oven the coil element was removed from inside the oven…there were 2 screws that held the element in place….once these were removed the element could be moved from it position & then you could just unplug the connections to it.

I recently replaced an element for my friend in his built in fan oven but the element on his wasn’t removable from the front of the oven….the oven had to be removed from the unit & the back removed from the oven to gain access to the screws that held the element in place.

The grill element in my Indesit oven was a 2 stage element…..you could select to only have it on low & only ½ of it heated up or you could put it on full & it all heated up…..is yours the same?
....If it is I would suggest that you remove the element & test it before going to the expense of a replacement as the fault could lie with the control dial!

No my grill doesn't have 2 settings you either have it on or off !

I am afraid I would know how to test the element once I had removed it..can you tell me how ?

Would I be right in thinking that of there was something wrong with the control dial the grill wouldnt come on at all....or the one loop wouldnt come on and the other stay off ?

As things stand at the moment I havent been able to find a Top Grill Element replacement to get a costing....Does anyone know where I can find one for my Kuppersbusch EEB 9640.0 ?

I have oredered the coil elemenet just waiting for it to arrive now

Thanks for you help much appreciated

I also believe that the grill part in my top oven has never worked properly as only one of the element loop actually heats up.

I may be wrong here but I would have thought if your Grill only had 1 setting the element would be a 1 part element…meaning that it would work or not….as you only seem to have half of it working (2 stage element) I would assume that your grill would have 2 settings…low & high…I’m assuming this from experience of my own oven.
On my oven the control knob for the grill only has 1 on setting ….however there is another control knob that turns the grill from low (only ½ of the element on) to high (all of the element on).
I think most cookers use a 2 stage grill system....so are you sure yours doesn't ?

I would use a multimeter to test the element once it was removed….this would tell you if the element was working or not. A multimeter is a very useful tool & very handy for future moneysaving! They come in all shapes, sizes & prices… but a cheep one will do the job.
Keep an eye out at Aldi & Netto as they quite often have them on offer for a few quid.
