Cost of a gas supply to a property?

Hi, I am in a pretty rural location and have 2 small lpg gas tanks in my garden. However, lpg has become so expensive that it has become a real burden trying to save money to fill these tanks. It used to cost around £160 when we first moved here but now costs over £400 and we have just had yet another price rise notification.

The house at the top of our little rank of houses paid for mains gas to be brought in. My neighbour and I were wondering what the cost would be (approximate) to have the mains supply brought down to us. I understand that british gas fit the meter for free but we have to pay for the supply to actually be brought down to us.
Does anyone have any idea what the actual costs are and if there are any possible schemes/grants etc available for this kind of thing. We are in Wales.
