Is she offering you the 50% back??
If so, just take it and look for another bike.0 -
Some friend, sounds like you have the bike, (possession is 9/10 of the law), and a text message agreement, a verbal agreement is as binding as a written one, but usually hard to prove, you have a text message,(proof!), so I would keep the bike and pay her the rest ASAP, then think about the "friendship".Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

what is their reason for wanting the bike back?0

Did you get a receipt for the 50%?
It often isnt something people think as necessary when dealing with friends but when you mix pleasure with business, things can - and do - go wrong. Friendships fail and people can be very vindictive.
Personally i would take the reason they want it back into consideration. If there is a greater need for them to have it, then as heartless as it sounds.....your granddaughter will get over it and forget soon enough as most young people do (plus you'll still have your friendship). However if its merely a whim, i would talk to them about it and stress you've paid 50% and how devastated your gd would be, if this is the case and they are any kind of friend at all, they will relent and continue with the deal as agreed. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
If she gives you the 50% back, then just give her the bike back and buy another one.
I'd also dump her as a friend, as she sounds like a cow!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
