this policy applies in china buffet king aswell

I think it has always happened in a lot of places. More than 30 years ago my mum wanted to treat my sister and myself for helping her with something so we were each allowed to choose a friend and take them for a meal at our local chinese restaurant. I was P6 and my sister Form 1 at big school and our friends were the same age. The menu said children's meals were up to age 14 but the waitress wouldn't let us order children's meals saying we were too big and holding her hand up at about waist height. We ordered adult meals and paid full price.

My mum was livid when we told her and said she would have taken us elsewhere than let them do that if she'd been there.

This is true but I think the OP was getting at the fact that they didn't care about age and only relied on height! Car booster seats - yes, rollercoasters - yes, reduced price lunch

yes , but a 12 yr old would be treated as an adult for meals , well they are around here

Then should the restaurants not state an age instead of saying "waist height only and we'll use our shortest employee to check you against"!
  • I told the woman before she sat down with her 2 "12yr" sons (they are as tall as me) that the buffet will be £4.99 for her 2 sons because of their height, she said ok and told her two sons eat like a horse when they sat down. I have witness who heard the whole conversation. When they finished the meal, she argued that she wouldn't paid £4.99 for her 2 sons because they are only 12 yr old. What a joke,

Doesn't sound like anywhere I'd care to visit, but my 7 year old already fits age 11 clothes, so would probably get charged the adult rate.
