Direct Auto Finance

Hi not sure if anyone can help me but I had a car from yes car credit through Direct Auto Finance in 2003. Having gone through a divorce the car went back 2005. The finance was in joint names.
Ihave had a read around on here and I might have got it wrong but am I right in thinking that after half of the total balance has been paid the car can be returned so the payments can cease?
If this is the case can I claim any money back?
The remaining balance at the time when the car was given back was almost £6000 out of a total of £9000 and I was told to pay £3000 and my ex wife would be chased for the other £3000, I don't think she ever paid this.
As I have paid more than half of the remaining balance can I reclaim any of that money?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope somebody can help.

    I've heard this too.

The easiest thing would be if you have the original paperwork still from when you signed up as it would state any cancellation T&Cs. I get the impression that this was in one of the sales pitches used by Yes.

From what I've read about Yes (never actually dealt with them though) you have to be careful with this. If your original loan was sold with PPI, then they ask you to pay from the whole lot, even though you're cancelling your agreement halfway through (don't take my word for it though, just be aware of it).

I think that your very best bet would be to post your question here.

It's a whole forum dedicated to people who hate Yes Car Credit! and they will have answers for you.

  • There is a whole forum dedicated to YES called saynotoyes. You may find so useful advice on there.
