Cost to remove utility room sink?

Hi

We were just wondering if anybody could give us a rough idea of how much it would cost to remove a sink (it's built into the utility room work tops and has a double cupboard underneath) and then fit a dishwasher into the space?

I'm sorry if i've been really vague, i'm not sure what information you might need to help me?

Who would I contact to get a quote for this? A plumber?

We want to remove the sink and fit a dishwasher, with the landlords permission of course. Before we ask the LL though, we want to know if we can afford it.

Thanks :)

  • You would need a new work top which could be anything from £20-£200.

& if it has to match & needs to be cut more..

    And the rest between £80 - £150

It hardly needs a plumber, any competent handyman could do it. But unless you replace the worktop, what are you going to do about the large hole that will be left. If it was my house I would be reluctant to do what is a fairly major change at the behest of a tenant who might or might not be around in the future.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Does the sink have a drainer? Keep the sink and stick it under the drainer.

    Cheers

We wouldn't be asking him to pay though and I think it'd be better to have a space for a dishwasher than an extra sink. A lot of families or even couples (we're just a couple) would appreciate having a dishwasher I would think.

I just had a look and their isn't room to the left or the right of the sink, the sink is slap bang in the middle.

I'll see about getting a few quotes anyway then decide whether we can afford it anytime soon or not then I'll speak to the LL if we can.

    Thanks for your replies :)

Is it a double drainer then? If you are looking at a 60 cm dishwasher no you prolly have no chance. Try looking at a slimline 45 cm one.

I realy think you should be speaking to the landlord before even thinking about it. If he says no you won't have wasted your time.
