Advice needed pls re Ebay unpaid item!!

Advice needed pls re Ebay unpaid item!!

What can I do when I've posted an item without the receipt of the payment by mistake & the buyer isn't willing to communicate with me?

I posted the item by Recorded Delivery & I've kept the receipt.

I've sent numerous messages to the buyer, but the buyer doesn't want to talk to me!!

What can I do now?

Thanks very much in advance.

There isn't much that you can do in terms of getting your item back, but you should at least open an unpaid item dispute on ebay. It won't force them to pay, but it'll give them a strike on their account if they don't pay, which can make things difficult when buying in future. So it's worth a try, it might get their attention.

You could also try requesting their contact details from ebay and giving them a phone call, they might not have the guts to be so cheeky when actually speaking to you and not just at the other end of the computer!

Hope it wasn't too expensive! :(

You can still try opening a non paying bidder dispute. Even if they don't pay you'll get your final value fees back and they'll get a strike. Phone them it's amazing what a phonecall can do.
  • Thanks v much for all the above replies, it's much appreciated!

How did I make the mistake? - I packed the item & sticked on the address label straight after bid ended on 11 June (thinking the buyer will pay for it soon & I'll be able to post it as soon as the payment arrives in order to have a very prompt delivery). However, I got mixed up with this buyer & another person, so I posted the item on 16 June by mistake......

It's not very expensive; it's about £15, but it's the principle!!

ANW, I've take some advices from here. I opened a non payment dispute first, and then I got in touch with ebay customer services and I was taught through on the phone to request the buyer's contact details e.g. telephone number. I was told that I'd be able to get the ebay fees back soon.

I've tried to ring this buyer & guess what - the number doesn't exist!!! I suppose there isn't anything else I could do now, I'll just have to give up on this one & be very careful next time & never write the address before any payment is received......

Thanks once more for the responses!

Good idea, to be on the safe side you should be sending to the paypal address anyway rather than the ebay registered one. Sometimes they don't match and seller protection only kicks in if you post to the paypal one.

I would report this to eBay - they do not like people who give false contact information!

Hi, I also once sent an item before the buyer had paid - luckily they paid before the item arrived so I didn't have any problems. I try to end all my auctions on the same day hoping that everyone will pay and I only have one trip to the PO - good in theory, but hardly ever happens, lol. Hope you get it sorted.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:
  • Hi,I never post until the cash is in my paypal account! Any problems I might have like this one I go to the resolution centre, they will mail the 'buyer' and you may even get your money back...well at least the ebay charges for listing etc...Its worth a try, explain what you have done so far and then leave it to Paypal/E-bay,peeps like that are fortunately in my experience anyway few and far between but its them who give the site a bad reputation, learn from this and never post until paid! Hope its sorted for you soon.
