Private Parking Tickets are unenforceable - read the many many threads on here.

    Ignore it file it away.

You will get more threatening letters which you can safely ignore as well

    Yes.

The car park was free I assume?

They can only pursue you for any loss they may have made by you parking there.
As there is no loss you owe them nothing.

Who was the company that sent the parking notice?

Tina - as above, ignore it, but just keep coming back to the thread for support when you get each letter as they are so intimidating. The thread shows each type of letter the various companies will send.

Am also going through this and have had my third letter - as the thread said I would - from a so-called solicitor but with the same details as the parking company, but nothing more since then.

    Have courage!

    Jen

PS - and yes, they also mention that my credit rating might be affected. It's a laugh really, although doesn't seem so when you get the letters.

As everyone else has told you already, p
rivate tickets are not real PCNs and you don't have to pay them! :D

There's tons on the internet about this issue, look for forum posts on here, pepipoo.com, consumer action group, all of which will rightly tell you the same thing:

IGNORE IT. NO FURTHER ACTION IS NEEDED BY YOU.

Watchdog covered this scam last month, do make sure you watch in full the youtube link to the programme provided by Paradigm above. Watch their legal adviser chap and believe him when he shows you what he would advise his mother to do if she got a PPC ticket (whether you have 'contravened their rules' or not). :D

You will receive debt collector letters telling you to pay So what, debt collectors have no powers, they are not bailiffs (usually the debt letters come from the same address as the parking company as it's just another letterhead and standard threatogram that they use top try to scare their victims).

Do not panic, do not believe the lies on the letters about Court/CCJs/dire consequences! Nothing happens to you if you ignore it. See examples here of what to ignore:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=2214803

Relax and forget about it, even if you get more letters (as per our examples, we can predict you'll get the same). But to be proactive - if the scam letters get tiresome - you may like to report the company and their debt collectors for harassment:

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/en...=03_harassment

But don't forget this is NOT a debt, NOT a fine, just a mickey mouse ticket, even with a pretty photo of your car it's unenforceable. Nothing happens, your credit record is NOT affected, so don't fall for this con!

Tell your friends never to be a victim of this scam either - only mugs and uninformed victims pay, you are neither.

I agree, wonder if Crabman or Browntoa can help, it would get a lot of viewings but could it be a 'closed' sticky as we could do without newbies posting Qs on it.

I don't see why not, with the topic "anyone with a PPC notice watch this" or whatever.
