Sainsburys Money off Vouchers

Like others have already said, Tesco usually take Sainsbury's total spend coupons - £2 off a £20 shop, £3 off a £30 shop etc. They don't normally accept store specific coupons, such as those printed in Sainsbury's magazine - 'save 35p if you buy milk in Sainsbury's etc.

I remember that last year, before finding out about this 'coupon thing', I got a big set of total spend coupons from Sainsbury's, and threw them away (don't go shopping there, too far away from where I live). I then discovered the MSE chat forum, and also the coupon related discussions. I was sooo upset I had thrown the coupons away, when I could have used them in Tesco instead...:(

  • Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. I took my £5 off a £25 spend voucher to Tescos, spent a lot more than £25! and the cashier was more than happy to take it, and all my other coupons as well.

In all, I got £8.20 off my shopping and 407 bonus clubcard points for a £90 spend, and double points for using another voucher. To boot I got 2 till spits offering me a total of 200 points off Indian meals & washing powder, so a good result all round!

    Thanks again folks.:T :T :T

Thanks for this thread, I went shopping at Tesco's today and used this week's £2 off £20 shop voucher from Sainsbury's.

Amazingly, the guy popped through this voucher, but then refused an Ocean Spray 30p voucher and a Little Swimmers 75p voucher as I had two of each and said they could only accept one per transaction!

Pleased with my shop today as got £13.61 off in multi-saves, bogofs, etc. £5.98 R&R. £5.25 in vouchers. Received 68 c/c points.

Yeah, me too. I think if you shop at Sainsbury's regularly, even for small amounts, they don't send out money-off coupons as they think they've already got you as a customer and don't need to entice you more!

At least that's what I think their logic is. I'll test it soon as I hardly ever shop at Sainsbury's these days since we've moved house, so we'll see if it will have an impact on my vouchers. Hope so! :o

Incidentally, some Sainsbury's will take Tesco's vouchers (which is good for the vouchers that you wouldn't be able to use in Tesco for some reason)! Ours has a sign about it outside.
