HI,

I was wondering if anyone has some tips on speeding up my laptop. Any free 'spped up ' tools available? DO they really do much?

Also I have a a process running that from time to time seems to take up quite a lot of the cpu, its called 'mscorsvw' is there anything that can be done to reduce this?

Any tips welcomed.

Cheers,

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/davidnotario/archive/2005/04/27/412838.aspx should explain that process.

someone will be along sooner or later who can talk you through working out what's running, what you do and don't need, spyware removal, all that stuff.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Stop unneeded programs loading when windows loads

Go to start menu and click on run/search bar and type in msconfig this program will list all programs that load when windows starts.. also cacheman free version is a good program for using ram a bit better..

But best thing to do is buy more ram if its a newer laptop then ram should be cheap..

To summarize the mscorsvw article: It happens when you load a new application that is written in Microsoft .net . It runs at very high priority but it's supposed to do it only when you're not using the system (but gets it wrong sometimes). It should happen only once for each application (although Microsoft put out a new version of .net this week in the updates - where it says "you have updates to install") - so it might be grinding through your systems still updating stuff. If that's the case it should have stopped processing now, and you shouldn't see it again (until next time Microsoft update .net).
