Beware: fake BT billing info email

Just a heads up folks... beware of the following (and similar) emails asking you to log on and confirm billing information for a BT landline. I was only suspicious because it's my girlfriend and not me who handles the BT line.
As with any spam, if you hover your mouse over the link, you'll see the link will take you somewhere that has nothing to do with BT.
Beware!
Dear Customer,
This e-mail has been sent to you by BT Internet to inform you that we were unable to process your most recent payment of bill. This might be due to either of the following reasons:
1. A recent change in your personal information. (eg: billing address, phone)
2. Submitting incorrect information during bill payment process.
Due to this, to ensure that your service is not interrupted, we request you to confirm and update your billing information today by clicking here.
If you have already confirmed your billing information then please disregard this message as we are processing the changes you have made.
Regards,
BT
Billing Department
Thanks for your co-operation.
Accounts Management As outlined in our User Agreement, BT® will periodically send you information about site changes and enhancements.

And, of course, the English/grammar is pretty poor !0

The irony of that is that it might lead you to believe it's genuine

Yes, well ! I followed my bank's instructions to forward a suspect e-mail to them - their server bounced it back to me as suspected SPAM !!!!! Very b****y useful !0 -
I had this email myself.
First time I have ever had a scam email about my BT phone, plenty of bank ones including banks I don't bank with, but never about my Phone.
I just skimmed over the email, thought yeah right and deleted.
However, after I deleted it, I thought hold on my bill is due out on the 22nd June (I got the email around the 20th).
Too make 100% sure I logged on to my BT account via the website, saw no message about any problems.
Must say I'm very savvy when it comes to spam emails but even I had to double check, because it happened to be very close to my quarterly bill.
EDIT.......Just to say their advice on phishing email is pretty good, mentioning the link. Not seen many companies suggest this to customers http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9191/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvc2lkLzJZRXRrczNr/c/761%2C18500 -
Do companies not use your name in correspondane? If I receive an email starting Dear customer, I immediately assume it is spam as the company already has all my details.0
