My dh ordered a silentnight microcoil 3 cushion top mattres and it came yesterday. I slept on it last night and this morning my back is hurting a bit. I sleep on my side and i found i had to turn over as it was hard for my side. I have to sleep on my side as i am pregnant. My dh has had no problems with it and says he finds it comfortable.
Do mattresses get softer or is this happening because the mattress is too hard.

I'm afraid the first mistake you made was buying a Silentnight, the second was buying one with the Miracoil continuous spring system, and the third was buying a pillow top mattress.
Read through the sellers terms and conditions immediately to see if you can exchange it. It is unlikely, but there are a few sellers out there who give a proper satisfaction guarantee.
If you can't exchange it, then you can be reassured that it is quite common to get back ache with a new mattress. So it is possible that you may get used to it.0 -

Thankyou very much for your help. My dh is sending it back to the catalogue where he bought it from. I am going to do some research before we go mattress shopping.Married 09/09/090 -
There are a few companies in the silentnight group of companies http://www.silentnightgroup.co.uk/ ..best to avoid them all! I would never touch silentnight miracoil ever again after the probs we had with our old one.
We went for a 1200 pocket sprung bed from Old English Bed Company that i'd highly recommend. Actually we had a problem this week with one of the castors breaking (local bed shop reckon it was their fault as they had fitted them) but i wouldn't let that put you off so long as you buy from a reputable seller. If your in the kent area i would highly recommend the bed shop we used as they came out the same day to fix for free. Avoid the big names like dreams etc.0 -
"Old English Bed Company" how good are their matteresses?0

Different people require different firmness mattresses for a good night's sleep. DH needs hard, I need soft. Although it may be harder to figure out what you need until you've had the baby. Is there any way you can wait till you've had it before buying a new mattress? Otherwise you could find you get a good night's sleep now, but suffer backache once you're back to your normal size and weight. If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0

As hngrymummy says, try and wait until you have had the baby. Then if I were you I would stay away from big brand names and big chain stores if you want good quality at a low price, and shop on line from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee that allows you to actually unpack and sleep on the mattress. This way it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time.0

I'm not allowed to recommend anything on here, but stay away from the big chain stores, and big brands.0
