Just to let you know, I got a Silvercrest KH6778 DVD player from Lidls (Deutche Deli!!) for £19.99. This includes scart lead and batts for your remote.
It will handle most things, but not DiVX.
5.1 Audio
All the connections you're likely to need and if you want to make it region free;

1. Power on
2. Open door
3. With RC key in 2812
4. This opens a new menu
5. 1-region 1 2-region 2.............. 9=region free
6. Press OK to change regions
7. Close door when finished.

Works a treat. Can't go wrong at that price, with 3 yr warranty too.

Put it on the techie forum in case people search for the remote hack.
