Hi
just trying to put up new Ikea spotlight onto ceiling.
at present, there is a rose with 3 grey cables out of ceiling. Each grey has a red wire and a black. ALl the reds are pushed back into the ceiling.
2 of the blacks are connected tothe neutral in the rose, and the other to live.
On the new light, there is only a live and neutral.
how do i connect them please?

The two blacks are the neutral & the othe black is the switched live, (it should have a bit of red sleeving on it) These are the what connect to your new fitting, along with the earth cable,if needed. The reds must stay together, they feed the other lights in the house.0

Nope, you started off ok in the original description now off track and confused you and me three reds are live in, live out to next ceiling rose, and live feed to wall switch- live returns on a black wire as cables do not have two reds in them. This black, now live should be clearly marked with a red sleeve.
At this stage connecting two black neutrals to a black live is not a good idea.0 -
