Days out nr Ladram Bay caravan park, Devon

Hi, we are going to Devon (Ladram Bay, Otterton), for a wk and wondered if anyone knows of cheap/free days out. We are a family of 4, two children, age 4 and 3. I've changed tesco vouchers to use at Crealy. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, or any local knowledge on the best beaches/parks/retaurants etc would also be hugely welcome. Many many thanks in advance xx

    Hi Marie,

We are going to Ladram the first week in August, our third year as my friend owns a van there. We love it, really clean park and a lovely area to be. The beach at the park is stony so make sure you have some of those water shoes or crocs, flip flops are no good. You can hire boats and canoes but maybe your two are a bit young for this. When the tide goes out there are lots of rock pools which the kids love. There is ice cream, tea etc on sale by the beach.

The park has a little playground which will be perfect for your two. There is an indoor pool, but we have to pay as we go for this, not sure about you though.

On the park there is a chippy and a restaurant which are good.

Down the hill from the park (it is up a big hill) there is a nice pub, not cheap as such but nice food. There is also a mill with a cafe but we didn't find this was great for kids, although it does gorgeous scones and cakes to take away.

Sidmouth is not far in the car and has a nice beach and is good for a wander round. We are going the week of the Sidmouth festival so there will be lots of things going on.

We found we had to go a little way to find anywhere to use Tesco vouchers for meals, maybe Exeter for a Pizza Express.

There is a big Tesco on the way to Exmouth, about 15 minute drive and also a McDonalds on that road. I always get a Tesco delivery for the day we arrive but I suppose it depends if you know where you are staying.

We are going to do Crealy this year with Tesco vouchers, not been before. We have been to Paignton Zoo but it took a long time to get there abd I was a bit dissappointed with it really.

Last year we drove to Lyme Regis, which again was a bit of a drive, but lovely sandy beach.

I hope this helps a bit, I'm sure you will have a lovely time. :T

At Seaton there's a nice ride on the tramway running alongside the river

At Beer there's the Pecorama though I've never been.
