Amended Working and Child Tax Credits

Got our award letter yesterday telling us how much we're entitled to. Rang them cos our circumstances have changed and we're now entitled to working and child tax credits (before it was just child tax credits).
Just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for them to process the amendments and how long it will be before we get the new amounts. I'm also assuming it will be backdated to when my partner went onto statutory maternity pay.
I know I should have asked when I was on the phone to them but to be honest this is the 1st time we've ever claimed any kind of benefits and I was taken aback at how much we're entitled to.
Thanks for any help.

when I had an existing claim that was amended I had the new payments by the following week. If it is a completley new claim I believe it can take up to 6 weeks to process.0

Don't worry if you had asked them on the phone they would have advised you that there is no timescale to process a change as that what advisors must say.0

it normally only takes a couple of days for a change in circumstances to be processed, give them a ring on monday or tuesday and ask if your new payment schedule is there, its likely you will get your new payments before you recieve your new award notice.0

mine was sorted withing two weeks and they never stopped paying my child tax credits0

Careful, there are folk on here that will fume at that, and insist your scour ebay for an old fashioned washer board. How dare you ask the "taxpayer" for a convenience item. :rotfl:All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.0 -
The OP and his wife are decent working people earning a wage Deepmistrust - why should they have to go fo ran old fashioned washer board?
Changes as far as I know will generally be done within a week or two....but wach your account - the money will likely be there days before you receive an awards notice.0 -

At no point did I suggest he should have to use a washer board. Jesus. All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.0 -

I also like the way you imply that to be "decent" a person has to be in work. (You know nothing of the OP's "decency" in any case)
So a working !!!!!phile can be decent. But someone made jobless by their employer can't be?
Honestly, the stupidity on this board gets greater every day.
I sincerely struggle to believe it is that difficult to think before you type. All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.0 -
Is there such a thing as a pedantic troll?0
