Windows Xp Product Activation Key

Options
Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has been through the same story with success.

You have a windows xp pro cd latest one sp3 and you are about to re-install windows xp however the current version on the laptop is windows xp media centre 2005 version.

My question is the product label key mentions media centre 2005 product key will that key only be valid for that version or any xp version? Thing is its hard to find o/s 5 10 years old outdated.

Thanks.

XP MCE is completely different to XP Pro, which means your MCE key is no good to use with Pro.

However if you have a genuine XP Pro CD, you will have a product key with it.

like everyone else has said, XP keys are specific to the types of products, IE an XP pro retail key will only work with XP pro retail.

there are ways to force windows to change the key, but it will eventually complain that the key is not valid and will ask you to either change the key or re-activate your machine, locking you out until you do so.

Will send you a link to the correct disc. Use the product code on the bottom of the laptop.

It is only valid for Windows Media Center 2005.

GOOD NEWS. I happen to have a set.

PM me and I'll send you a copy of a set of installation discs for cost of post and discs. There will be no key with them so you'll need to use yours during installation.
