Hi just after some advice.
I have been offered a job and due to start 5th July :j.
I have been in receipt of IB JSA for over 26 weeks. Latest sign on day was Wed 23rd June via postal coupon.
I am going to call them on monday to advise I have got a job and give them my start date just wondering what happens with regards to signing off? Will i be signed of straight away? I belive I am also entitled to a job grant because of being over the 26 weeks does this get paid automatically or do I need to fill in something?
Also I am due to attend a new deal meeting on wed 30th June will they still expect me to attend this even though I have a job?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Kayleigh

It depends on your local office, some allow you to sign off over the phone because they have a new system in place, others you have to fill out your ES40JP (little green book) and either take it in or post it to them.
You can continue to claim up untill the day before you start work so you wont be signed off straight away.
The job grant should be paid automatically with your final JSA payment if you qualify for it.
You will be required to attend your new deal appointment as you have to still be actively seeking work.
Also if you need anything to help you start work then this is the time to ask, your adviser will have a fund they can dip in to to help you with work clothes, toole etc0 -
I would still attend your New Deal meeting as you will still be unemployed on that day and in theory you still have to be actively seeking work and ready to start a job within 24 hour etc even if you are imminently about to start one.Hi just after some advice.

Personally I would hold back informing them you have a job until you have actually started but that is just a personal preference. It won't affect any Job Grant as that isn't payable until you have actually started work and telling them in advance won't actually speed up payment. You could mention it at the New Deal meeting though but again you still have state you are still seeking work until July 5...
Edit: just to add, it definitely will be worth mentioning at the New Deal meeting if, as Snakeeyes21 says, you need help with the costs of starting work.0 -
Great thanks for your replies. I think I will follow your advice and tell them at my new deal meeting.
Thanks again
