work boots

i bought some karrimor work boots less thn 2 months ago. On the right boot a split has appeared. I am taking them back to the shop tomorow. Can i ask for a replacement or refund on the spot?. The shop is 30 miles away. I did email the company last week, but they said i got to take them in and leave them until area manager looked at them and made a decision. This means 2 return journeys to the store.
also probaly being paranoid i pressume it doesnt matter that they look like they have been used? im thinking they look at them and blame it on my workplace.

You can certainly ask for a refund/replacement. They may however be wanting to look at them to see if its possible for the to be repaired - which they can do. Its fairly common in cases of footwear/clothes for a exchange or full refund to be offered.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
