Help with Panasonic cordless please

I have just bought a Panasonic KX-TG6423 triple cordless phone set. All fine apart from not being able to copy phone book to the other two handsets. I knew it did not have a SIM card reader but was not put off because I thought I would only have to enter names and numbers to one hand set.

I obey all the instructions but get "failed" every time. What can I do?

I'm not familiar with that particular model, but my Panasonic manual says:

Failed: Phonebook copy failed. Confirm the other handset (the receiver) is in standby mode and try again.

Presumably you've tried that?

It has been sorted out now. I did not know which handset was which. Apparently although I have bought the triple set the handsets are 3 and 6. There was me thinking that they were 2 and 3 with 1 being on the base.
