Council won't give me 25% discount

You mean like
there is nothing contradictory there at all.
The policy is not applied according to factual conditions (as (assuming truthfullness) this case shows) but rather on the whim of a department that decides whether to apply the discount or not.
I'm basing all my opinions on the basis of the poster being truthful. What are you struggling with? All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.0 -
Thanks for more information. I don't think there is much point in posting something untruthful because that would be a waste of time wouldn't it? The argument seems to be that because he sees me on weekends, he is still using services and so has to pay, and also that my house is classed as his main residence and his mums as digs because he is here at weekends. According to my council, no one can stay overnight at my house, ever, whilst claiming a 25% discount.
I understand that they must protect public finances and take all your comments on board.
Hopefully my house will sell soon and we can go back to paying one lot of council tax for all those wonderful services I benefit from. He is not on the electoral roll here. He is registered up there. He claimed JSA up there for 2 weeks before starting work. His bank accounts are up there. His wages are paid into his local branch up there etc etc. But he sees me at weekends and therefore uses services here. Maybe I should claim a refund so I can pay his council when I'm up there for the services I'm not using when it's my turn to travel?
Anyway thank you for your help, he pays the difference for me which is very good of him. Hopefully my house will sell and I can wave goodbye to this council for good. Like I said in my previous post, it took 18 months before they granted the discount when my husband left me. Again they had an address, my divorce documents and in the end only legal documents from my solicitor forced them to refund me. I offered them access to my house, my bank accounts to have me watched if they wanted to and they still fought it to the bitter end. Is it any wonder people lie?
Reading through the posts it seems to be that you are guilty until presumed innocent and that must surely be harmful to people in genuine need.0 -
A written signed & witnessed statement by you and a council employee on your declaration to claim 25% off is all you need, if they want to investigate otherwise to prove you have made a false declaration thats council choice....they cannot deny the 25% discount if they have the declaration. If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:
