Windows 7 and Canon LIDE scanner problem

I got a new PC recently which has Windows 7. My Canon LIDE30 scanner no longer works as windows could not find a driver for it. It worked OK with XP on my old PC. Canon say they do not have a driver and will not be developing one. Is there any way I can get a driver or has changing to windows7 made the scanner obsolete?

have a look at Vuescan http://www.hamrick.com/ I've had a similar problem with a Nikon scanner - Vuescan has a number of its own drivers which got me around my problem. It has a free trial version so you can check it works first.

Have you tried a generic twain driver?

you wont have the driver specific 'tools' but you should be able to scan?

Use the Vista driver, available from the Canon website

Thanks to everyone for their replies. Especially to Deanos who helped me through the Vuescan installation. Scanner is working now.
