Hosting problems, what can I do?

Hi everyone, I was experiencing some minor problems with my website causing it to drop off-line until a certain application was reset by my hosting company. IT got to the stage where this was happening almost every day. They are adamant it is a coding issue and insist I must have changed some code (which I haven't, I wouldn't know how to).
I was advised by my hosts to upgrade to a new virtual server, inevitably this was to cost me more than my current server. I decided to give them one last chance.
Once they had copied over my site information to my new server I was invited to test it before the dns was redirected. The site had a few niggles that they then fixed and it was working fine. The day the dns was redirected the site disappeared completely, after much to-ing and fro-ing I have been told by an ASP developer that they have set my site up incorrectly and also that a server upgrade would have made no difference in terms of fixnig the first problem.
I have asked to return to my old server and get the developer to fix the initial problem. I'm now told that this old server will no longer be available for the same price I had it before and that after 3 months I would have to move to a new server or face increased costs.
What can i do about this, I feel like I'm being held to ransom, I don't have the finances to pay more than I was paying before and don't want to have to end up in the same situation as before if they mess up the transfer of my site to a new server again.
Is there any way I can legally walk away from this company bearing in mind when they setup the virtual server I sent a faxed copy of a signed contract but never forwarded on the original?
Hope someone can help.
Thanks

You can always cancel the contract if they change the terms (in your case raise the price). Unless it was written in the original contract that they wil raise the price after three month.0
