Redundant and having trouble claiming on my payment protection insurances

I was made redundant on 31st March 2010. I am 61 years old and receiving State Pension. I immediately applied to all parties with whom I have had Payment Protection Insurance for some years. I signed on at the Job Centre on 3 occasions (every 2 weeks) only to be told that I was not entitled to JSA because I was receiving a State Pension. In order to process my claims for PPI all the various companies insisted on a ABI1 Form which the Job Centre could not provide for me. I was told that I had to apply for Pension Credit to get the ABI1 Form signed by them. I have since found out that I am not entitled to Pension Credits as I receive just enough money monthly to live on ie. food, utilities, council tax, tv licence etc. but I cannot pay my outstanding credit cards and mortgage as there is nothing left. How do I get an ABI1 Form? because without it, I cannot claim on my insurances which I have been paying for years!
To top it all, as I haven't met the minimum payments on CC's, I have been informed that my Payment Protection Insurance is to be cancelled unless I pay them the outstanding balance due. I am being hit with constant charges on all accounts and I am in no position to settle these because I have no extra income. I am being bombarded with phone calls every day from these companies demanding money when I still have a hopeful pending claim.
Has anyone else of my age group been in this position or currently suffering the same fate as me as I would really, really appreciate any advice possible.
Many thanks

I would contact the CAB and see if they can advise you (there are other free charities which you can telephone). See link for phone details https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2077631. The national debtline and CCCS websites also have lots of good information.

You can write a holding letter to creditors to ask them to give you time while you get advice as to what to do (National debtline example http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/temp/5542_81521.pdf).

You may want to re-post on the debt free wanabee board to see if anyone can give more advice. You need to keep up your priority debts, so the CC are further down the scale than the mortgage. I would check entitledto.co.uk to see if there are any benefits that you might have missed.

Don't worry too much about PPI being cancelled - the event which led to the claim has already happened while you were insured! I am afraid you are on a long uphill battle to get the money though.
