SAGA application

I applied for a Saga credit card about 4 weeks ago, did the initial registartion online to so say speed things up.
I received a letter about 10 days later to tell me that I was not recognised on Equifax(Ihave 4 other cards and 3 bank account by the way) and that they needed a copy of my passport and 2 utility bills.I sent all of those back within hours of them coming and now another week later they have been returned to say they cannot accept copies of the utility bills.
I called the person who signed the letter and she doesnt exist or will not speak to you.
So here I am 5 days before my holiday without one of the better cards to use in place.
A wholly dissappointing experience,so beware...:mad::mad::mad:

    The documentation they sent you did not say they had to be originals?
  • To be honest I dont remember because I was in such a hurry to get it back for processing I enclosed the letter they sent in the hope of speeding things up..however I dont really understand the needs for originals when they accept a copy of yor passport..

    On the other hand...
    I applied for a Saga card after Nationwide axed my credit limit 4 weeks before my holiday. My Saga application went straight through and I had the new card, a decent credit limit and online access in 2 weeks. Customer support is in Ireland (or maybe NI) and can be accessed by a normal UK phone number and the support staff are not pushy (so no hard sell of PPI, additional card holders, etc.). YMMV

    They should only be accepting originals of all documents, and then returning them to you.

    Annoying as it is, it is the law and is there to protect us all from money laundering and identity theft.

    They shouldn't have accepted a copy of your passport (unless the rules have changed recently).
