Credit Check for Cashminder account

Hi there,
I filled in the application form for a Co-op Cashminder account on Saturday just gone. As this is their basic bank account, do they normally do a credit check? I thought that they didn't, but I've checked my report today and I am showing two searches for them (one says it is unregistered or something like that). Could they have searched me to try to put me in for one of their "normal" accounts, which I don't want, instead?
Thanks for any info!
EDIT: Never mind - just found the info myself - D'oh! :P

Hi, firstly, there is a difference between a 'credit check' and to credit score? Even for a basic bank account, most banks will check you on the electoral roll and do a fraud check.
And yes, sometimes banks can see if you can get a full account with them and score/check you for a full bank account.
I know this because over 5 year's ago I went into the Head office of the co-op bank in Manchester for a basic Cashminder account.
I told the advisor my financial problems, but he said (at the time) it would be quicker to apply for a full account and when declined let it be referred. Over 5 year's ago, you couldn't open it over the phone you had to go in and they had a real backlog in 2005.
I still had to wait to get the account open though! I imagine alot quicker now.0
