Can anyone recommend Puerto Pollensa, Majorca ???

I am considering booking to go to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca in August this year, however I am wondering if anyone else has been before and can recommend it ? We will be taking our children who are 14, 11 and 4 and I undertstand Puerto Pollensa is quite a traditional resort - will there be enough for them to do there ? I'm not after a rowdy Blackpool abroad resort, but somewhere where there are a few play grounds the for little one, and maybe bowling or something for the older ones ? I also like looking around the shops :-) Any advice on Puerto Pollensa would be appreciated. Thanks in advance !

One of my best mates is an independant travel agent, with kids a similar age to yours. She's travelled extensively but Puerto Pollensa is the one place she keeps going back to, as she says it has "everything." HTHOnly dead fish go with the flow...0

Its lovely! Great beach and sea with great views, lovely marina with some very expensive boats, plenty of restaurants and bars and general shops to mooch around. Alcudia is only a short drive along the coast and has all the more nosier "Blackpool" type stuff if you want a change for the kids.
Pollensa town itself is slightly inland and worth a wander round (very tight streets for driving round mind)
Majorca is pretty compact and a car can see you get anywhere on the island within a couple of hours at most. Puerto Pollensa is only about an hours drive from Palma airport
Great site here for more info and a forum for Puerto Pollensa and lots of links to property owners for villas/apartments if you want to go that route (we did)
Downside is that it is generally one of the most expensive places on Majorca0 -
We went to Puerto Pollensa last year. No kids but we thought my sister's children would love it. Beach is fantastic and there's plenty to see. We went without a car but buses to Pollensa old town, Alcudia and Palma were fine. We'd definitely recommend it.C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0

sorry but its way too expensive for what it is. Used to be great but its a let down now (a has been) I would call it. Went many years ago when it was the in place, went again last july and wouldnt be going back. Aso food was crap Its just a total rip off. I dont mind paying top price if its fine but not this. sorry.Look after the pennys and the pounds will look after themselves:money:0

Maybe the places you chose were crap but to generalise and say the food was crap is ridiculous.
I had two fantastic meals at Tango ce Vostra which is on the outskirts of the town heading towards Alcudia. It's is easily walked to and the owner is incredibly friendly.
I would also recommend this for a family, great beach not to noisy and plenty of decent eating places.:beer:Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Having only visited for the day it seemed to be a very nice seaside resort - lovely beachfront, lots of families and people from lots of different nationalities and it's almost as far from Magaluf as you can get on the island so that has to be an advantage
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

To be honest I love the whole of Majorca, it is definitely our favourite holiday place. I think we only drove through Puerto Pollensa but remember the boats and seafront and from what i can remember seemed a quiet family resort but one thing that does stand out in my mind was Formentor, you really must take a trip up there, (keep and eye on the kids though) as its very high up but must be one of the most beautiful places that I have been.
I actually prefer the south of the island Palma Nova, Palma Santa Ponsa etc, even the beach at Magaluf is lovely during the day so this area is worth a visit.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

Not my experience from two years ago
PP has always been one of the more expensive resorts on Majorca to my knowledge. We had some lovely food and liek everywhere in the Euro zone it wasn't cheap due to exhange rate issues
Shame you had a bad experience. I would head back there no problem0 -
Puerto Pollensa is a lovely place, the big beach is fantastic.
Gets hot in August.
Worthwhile hiring a car for a couple of days to get to other places (the island is relatively small).0
