Hello all , Let me just start by telling you a bit about myself. My name is Tania and I have always been very stingey with my money , I hate lending and I never liked to spend money on anyone but me ......Well That didn't last, I met my Fiance and we had an amazing time together , (he is in a IVA at the moment and is doing really well atm) and all I wanted was a future with him. So now , we've been together for nearly 10 years (16th Sept ) and have booked our fab wedding and honeymoon ........and I have more in my saving account than I do in my current account ! I have done nothing but buy clothes and shoes and stupid things for the last 5 years , I can't help myself , I don't need this rubbish but yet here I am , the first time EVER In my 26 yrs of living ...in My overdraft ....have just been paid and I'm still in the red , As it is the first time , I'm in shock , How did I let this happen , where did it all go wrong , What have I done ?? Now my mum (I live with mum ) has no work (shes a cabby and smashed up the car) and shes also in the red and I don't even know if me and hubby will have anywhere to live once we're married ! I need advice please , I'm devastated with myself , My dad always taught me the value of money but I really don't want to tell him about my problems ...I don't want him to be dissapointed with me !!! PLEASE HELP !!!:(

First thing is to chill (i know it's easier said and done) and make yourself a cuppa, First thing is not to panic, look at it as a challenging situation rather than a problem.
First and what most will say on here is to post a SOA, i havent figured out how to do a link yet, but someone more tech savvey will be along in a mo, then the lovley guys on here can see where you can make cuts etc etc...
One thing i would say is to start keeping a spending diary of everything you spend from a cup of coffee to choc bar, that really is a eye opener...........
Don't worry, youll be able to sort it, and well support you along the way...................
Good luck, Love and hug's, Oh and congrats on the wedding!!!!Im not financially savvy as im still learning but i love to support anyone that needs it and give virual hug's and tea!!!Can't do Bickie's Sorry, need to lose weight!!!Challenge 1 : Sealed Pot Challenge, No : 810Challenge 2 : Dragon's wake up callChallenge 3 : Aug 8/15 NSD's0 -
If you have been sending alot of money lately you must have something to show for it. Is there anything you can start to put on EBay to raise some finances.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Awww thank you !!! Right , I've taken a deep breath !!
Ok , I've been doing ebay the past 2 weeks now , Last week I made £28...it's a start and I put some more stuff on late last week. I have a massive pile of rubbish clothes , games , shoes etc to sell , so I'm going to keep that up ! To be honest , I only have a packed out wardrobe to show for it ! I don't have my own home , I can't drive , No kids ( which is a good thing cos then I'd really be broke ).0 -
1. I would start by looking at what needs to be paid for the wedding as this is too near to cancel.
Could you ask for money instead of gifts to build up some savings?
2. Look at your in goings and out goings and start a budget.
3. As you have loads of things could you ebay them? Also you could sell your wedding dress once you have finished with this would make a few quid to go against the debt.
Your situation is fixable, it depends how you are a going to change.0 -
Hi Hun, Its not rubbish, its quality merchandise,:rotfl:as my OH would say.
thats fantastic that you have made a start, you just need to make sure you don't make any more unessesary purchases now!!!
Have u discused this with your fiance???
As if he has a IVA he will also aware of situations like this???Im not financially savvy as im still learning but i love to support anyone that needs it and give virual hug's and tea!!!Can't do Bickie's Sorry, need to lose weight!!!Challenge 1 : Sealed Pot Challenge, No : 810Challenge 2 : Dragon's wake up callChallenge 3 : Aug 8/15 NSD's0 -
Thanks Lottebear,
The best thing about my situation is that our parents have foot most of the bill and we have what we need to pay it off , Thankfully ! We have done a moneygift list poem yes That was one of my first ideas I had !
I'll be doing my budget tomorrow online , That will show me where I'm spending !
And yeah , the ebay thing will carry on , I have tons of stuff after the wedding to sell !
Thanks so much !!! I really want to change , I don't need all those useless Items of clothing and I'm feeling better just saying out loud ( My boss thinks I'm nuts ) .0 -

Aww Thank you , it does feel good to see the Quality Merchandise leave my flat in a paper package lol!!!!
I know , Thats going to be a test for me ! I know I can do it !!!!!!
Yeah , He has given me advice and said to take out £20 for the week and stick to living on that , and make my lunch everynight so I don't have to buy anything , so by the end of the week , If I still have the £20 in my pocket I don't have to get out any money for the next week ! See he's been through it and is now giving me advice when it used to be the other way around hehe !!! x0 -
When I got married we sold loads of stuff you wouldn't think of selling, half packets of invites, unused petal conffeti, balloon weights, keep all of it and have an ebay session post honeymoon use this money off the debts.0
