Can they legally make me redundant?

Hi I am currently employed on a full time basis as an accounts manager for a firm that is based 265 miles away, so I work remotely on a computer, carrying out all duties just like I am in the office. This has worked sucessfully for over 2 years now and my current employer is happy with every aspect of it. Recently we have heard the company is being bought out by an outside company and I have heard from my boss that they do not want me doing my job remotely and want someone to work in the office. Therefore putting my job at risk because I cant re-locate. Where do I stand if they decide to do this? Would appreciate any advice on this! Thanks

If the company is bought then the employees will probably fall under TUPE. A brief (simple) explanation of this.....they must employ you under the exact same conditions as you currently have - for a period of time. However, they can decide to make your position redundant at any time or change your employment terms after the 'period'. I'm sure if you google 'Tupe' you will get a more comprehensive explanation.0
