npower 'Sorry You're Leaving' Department...

Thought I'd ask here first before giving them a call; does anybody know whether npower has a 'Sorry You're Leaving' department?

We're looking to change to another fixed price tariff (currently on their Fixed Price 2011) and would consider changing supplier if necessary.

The decision to change is purely financial as we've never had any problems with npower in the past and would happily stay with them should the opportunity to 'negotiate' be available.

We've seen their Go Fix 2 but it isn't as good as EON's Fix Online v8 which could expire any day nor Atlantic's FP September 2011.

Are npower open to such 'individual negotiations'?

Thanks
Max

I don't think any supplier will deviate from their published tariffs, ie they will not offer you a special tariff to keep your custom. What they may do is offer you one of their cheaper tariffs if you are not on it already.
They have got a "sorry you are leaving dept" but I do not think you can contact them normally.
I say this because I have just left them and received 2 letters from them saying sorry you are leaving, please ring us so we can finalise your account, this really means so we can persuade you to stay. Needless to say I did not ring them.
In addition to this I received about 5 calls per day for about 3 weeks from them, presumably with the same intent.I did not answer them.
If it is any use to you this is the number they wanted me to ring 08001973937.
  • Thanks for the info.

I say we've never had any problem with them; when I called this morning, I found out they didn't apply our dual fuel discount to the January statement / review in which they also increased our direct debits. (Am I right presuming these increases were based on consumption and that the discount wouldn't have affected the level of increase?)

They've now told us they will apply the discount on our next statement / review which is mid July. Am in two minds firstly to see whether to wait to make sure we get the discount and also to see whether our direct debit changes again, before deciding if and when to switch.
  • Does anyone know if there's an npower rep on ths forum?

If by dual fuel discount you mean the £105 Direct debit and dual fuel discount then that is paid after 12months of DD payments.
When they work out your direct debits they do not take into account any future discount payment, but if the £105 had been credited to your account and put you in credit then I would think they would take that into account.
  • I don't understand...

Just been on the phone to npower and they said the best fixed rate they could offer would be the Go Fix 2 which would save us £123 a year, yet when I do the comparison on moneysupermarket.com (using monthly direct debit figures for each fuel) the saving shows a potential yearly saving of £320?

That's a big difference! I thought the comparison was based on unit prices and any standing charges?

I'm sure npower don't give two hoots what moneysupermarket say it should be and will only offer what they've quoted.

Afraid you must get your calculator out and work them out for yourself. You know the tariff rates for your existing tariff and for the Go fix2 so apply them to your yearly kwh figure.Don't forget to take the discounts into account.
I see you put your monthly DD figure into the comparison site, that could be the problem, you should put in your annual kwh figure.
I am surprised that Gofix2 came out cheapest as Sign online 18 has been top of the pops for quite a while now.

    Hi Maxes_Party_Planner

You'll need to bear in mind when looking at price comparisons online as most people will naturally use their existing monthly payment amounts as a calculation aid.

While this can be a benchmarking tool, this can sometimes not truly reflect your actual energy use. This could lead to you either under paying or over paying for your energy.

Its best to base your calculations on your annual consumption. Just call us on 08451 201 453 - we can give you this information. You can then use this to shop around - and also protect yourself from any large 'catch up' bills!

    Best Wishes

  • Thanks for all the replies - I know I have to use kwh now for a more accurate comparison.

Signonline did come out cheaper although we'd prefer to go on a fixed rate.

    Thanks again
