We have a Samsung NC10 notebook at work that has a damaged screen. I’m thinking about making an offer to our IT dept for it and looking in to the possibility of having it repaired. Do you think it would be worth my while and if so how much do you reckon it would cost to repair?

A damaged screen is rarely warranty, nut I have a NC10 and find it a great little machine as I use it for my photography, it has almost a 8hr battery life, small and light and it runs the software to control the Nikon perfect.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! Damaged screen is not warranty. DIY repair is approx £70. I'd offer no more than £50 or so because they're fetching £150-£200 on Ebay. I had all hell on trying to sell sealed box ones for £200 a few months ago, even on the run up to Xmas.0

My NC10 also has a damaged screen.... where it flickers when you move it back and forth. It is ok in certain positions.
I have been quoted between £75 and £130 to replace the screen... but putting up with it for now, until I can work out which new Netbook to buy.
I have removed the screen a few times and its quite an easy process - just make sure you are using a Pozi screwdriver to remove the tiny screws.

On reading the the original post my immediate reaction was £25. The NC10 is a great little machine, if you can live with it's limitations. Mainly the small screen, which isn't a problem if you use it for it's original intentions, i.e. web, email and maybe word processing. Also I really don't like the touch pad!!Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
Plenty of replacement screens listed on Ebay at around £55 many with instructions in the listing showing it to be pretty easy to change yourself so if the rest of it is good you could offer £45-£50 for it and get yourself an excellent netbook for £100. I am typing this on my Samsung N130, I better be quick, only 4 hours battery left :rotfl:0

I changed the screen on my NC10 after squishing it with a pen - fairly painless to repair, but just remember to make a note of which screw came from where lol0

My IT dept called me last week and told me it wasn't policy to sell on damaged goods. Instead it will be sent to our recycling centre for scrap!!! Makes no sense at all but that's life.0
