Debit Card transaction taking 2 months to debit from account

Was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen?
I know it's my own fault for not watching my bank statement as closely as I should do (I do check it with a fine tooth comb, but as the amount is only £15 you can see why it wasn't picked up), but this morning I was checking my wages had gone in, all was fine and dandy until I noticed a debit to a shop I haven't been in for over 2 months. Was wracking my brain, but no, definitely not been there recently, last time was in April when I bought some stuff for my new house, so know it was just after 19th April and I know the total came to £15, anyway, to stop my babbling, the transaction has only just been debited on 24th June! I have also checked right back and it hasn't come off twice.
Not too bothered because I had enough money to cover it, but surely 2 months to debit your card isn't normal?
Oh and I bank with Lloyds.

My boyfriend had this constantly with Lloyds, it meant he got hammered with charges as well when there wasnt money there to pay transactions from a few weeks previous. Very annoying, we both use the same shops, yet my bank takes the money immediately (as you would expect), but Lloyds could linger for a while, so he never knew really where he was with his account. Obviously, he has now changed banks!0

Thankfully it's only the first time I have had it happen, but needless to say I am going to be keeping an even closer eye on the account from now on and if it happens again it may be the final straw & finally make me change from Lloyds as if it was to happen with a big amount it could be an absolute nightmare!Consumer Pulse - £140 Debenhams & £20 HMV vouchers - so far.Lightspeed panels - £130 Paypal so far!Ipsos Panels - £20 Boots vouchers - so far!Valued Opinions - £10 Amazon voucher - so far!:T0

I think they are generally rubbish-they refused to let me go into the branch and pay off his overdraft after he lost his job as I wasnt the account holder. I have never heard of anything so crazy in my life!
Like you say, if it were a bigger amount it would be a nightmare!0 -

It is not the fault of the bank.
The delay is cuased by the retailer or the organisation processing the cards for them.0 -
They are truly horrendous. I recently moved house, took them 4 attempts to change my address, I had to send 3 typed forms & then a stinker of a letter with the address as large, clear and bold as I could get it before they managed to get it right. Mind they did give me £30 as a gesture of goodwill, but it really was a nightmare.
Them not letting you go in a pay off an overdraft is just absolute stupidity though. You were trying to give them money for goodness sake! Sometimes you just have to laugh at them, don't you, either that or you would cry...Consumer Pulse - £140 Debenhams & £20 HMV vouchers - so far.Lightspeed panels - £130 Paypal so far!Ipsos Panels - £20 Boots vouchers - so far!Valued Opinions - £10 Amazon voucher - so far!:T0 -
Payments can be taken from your account for up to 6 years.:eek:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If you keep the till receipts and check them off / get rid once they hit the Statement ....... then you can't be surprised? Two months is unusual but I've had the same with Asda (petrol) ...... whilst Asda (stores) payments have gone through 'on time'.
As post #5 ............ it is absolutely nothing to do with Lloyds (where would they store these debits?). It is the retailer / their acquirer who deals with their card payments who are at fault. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

He got hammered with charges because he couldn't manage to keep his account in order. It's nothing to do with Lloyds.0 -

In fact they're probably one of the better high street banks. You obviously have little experience of what banks are really like.0 -
