Annoying error message

Options
Hello

A few months back my Windows XP computer had a fairly serious problem and I had to do a repair install of windows. Everything was running fine for a while but I've noticed an error message has started appearing that states:

the application or dll C:\windows\system32\nvapi.dll is not a valid windows image Please check this against your installation diskette

It only seems to appear if I try to watch video on the web. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this and how I can rectify it?

My antivirus/spyware programs are upto date and aren't reporting any hidden nasties so I'm a bit perplexed :(

Thanks

Nvapi.dll is an nVidia graphics driver file, so I'd try downloading the latest drivers from their website and installing them. You might want to try uninstalling the existing ones first.

Thanks Geoff - forgive me, how do I go about uninstalling the drivers?

If you are using windows xp then:-

    > click your start button
    > choose the 'control panel' option
    > double click the 'add remove programs option and wait for the list to populate
    > scroll down until you see the item relating to nvidia, click on it and a button should show up saying remove or something to that effect. click that and follow the steps through.

after that it would probably be best to restart your pc and then install the new drivers.

    :)

Hmmm tried that - still get the same error message :(

    Any ideas?

Update - I tried deleting nvapi.dll and that seems to have done the trick.. Have probably broken my computer in the process
