Yes - it seems that potatoes, especially grown in bags, need much more water than one would expect - I think it's because the bags, being exposed to the heat from the sun, dry out much faster than if the potatoes are in the ground.
I had a similar experience. We've got 4 bags on the go and came home to find one wilting badly and one of the others on the turn - managed to resurrect them both fortunately so still growing. I hope the end result is worth the effort and worry.0 -
Mu potatoes are in the ground but the shoots keep falling over - have I not earthed them up enough? There is quite a lot of earth but perhaps I should put more?I wanna be in the room where it happens0

Mine are wilting lots to and falling a bit. I haven't earthed up around them so think I better do.0

my potato greens fell over but they are in a big bag already earthed to the top so not much I could do! However they have started growing "up" again. I think they just got too tall. Not going to be dug up for a while yet (they were maincrop) so hope they are OK!0

I second water water and more water, mine flop over if I don't water them 3 times a day... but they soon pick up when watered.. I want to leave mine for another month at least ... last year I was impatient and ended up with a few biggies but mostly marble size little ones that if I had left them would not doubt of grown..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
