buildings insurance for flats

Hi I have an ex council flat in a block of 4 which has its own front door and I had a lot of trouble getting buildings insurance as many companies don't insure flats. Unfortunately I have now moved out and it is empty while it is for sale but I need to renew my buildings insurance and cant find anyone who will insure an empty flat! Does anyone have any ideas I daren't leave it uninsured in case it burns down!!

Are you sure that there is not a "block" policy arranged via the lease (perhaps even council) and paid thro' managment charges
