Which country(in europe) is cheapest for buying tax-free cars?

You are confusing the issue by saying 'tax-free' when it is only VAT free. Tax-free is a totally different kettle of fish
Could you elaborate please?
Is it possible to save additional "taxes"?
I actually spend more than 75% of my time abroad. Does thismake any difference?
Also, would there be any advantages by purchasing the car through my company (I'm self employed) and having it as a company car.
Thanks for your help.0 -
An important thing to consider rather than the tax rate is the exchange rate as you could lose alot of money by having to buy in a different currency.0

Other countries may have have some sort of sales taxes as well that you may not be able to circumvent. I have no real idea about other countries tax systems, that is something that you need to look into.
Also the increase of VAT to 20% may not make worthwhileThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It used to be said that car manufacturers were willing to sell at a loss in Denmark just to keep the after tax price affordable. Their loss was offset by UK buyers at ripoff prices. So basically UK car buyers were subsidising the excellent Danish health care system, or so the story goes. I wonder if it's still true.I know the tax on bringing a car into Denmark is 180% of the value of an equivalent Danish Car!!! :mad:0 -
Not by these prices

I would have thought with current bexchange rates you will struggle to buy anywhere cheaper than the UK.
Purely on interest rates alone cars in Europe are going to be about 30% more expensive than a few years ago, whilst the manufacturers are taking some of that pain for UK buyers.
OP I will be interested if do find them cheaper though. Good luck.
(Might be a few distressed sales in Greece?)0
