Sky - Complaint but turned out good!

Options
I organised for Sky to come and fit multiroom yesterday, they 2 engineers phoned me to let me know they were on there way and arrived about 10 minutes later. Approximately 1 minute after they arrived they told me they wouldnt be doing the installation. Apparently as my dish is on the top of my roof I need the "special heights team".

I was a bit annoyed as I was asked on the phone while arranging the installation exactly where the dish was, and now to be told they couldnt do it. I didnt blame the engineers at all, they are only doing their job, and quickly rang and rearranged the appointment with the right people.

So I emailed Sky, just to vent my frustrations really! Only took them about 30 mins to reply and apologised saying my account did say I needed Special Heights, but this obviously had not been passed on. To be fair I do think it must have been the bloke at the call centres first day as he put me on hold about 20 times and kept saying just one second!

And although they do not accept any responsibility for lost earnings etc (am on hols this week, didnt really matter!) by way of an apology I have half price tv and phone for the next 12 months!

Thanks Sky!! :money:

It is the engineers fault. Even if it didnt say on your account that you needed the SHT, they turn up and say "oh thats too high, health and safety". They have big ladders on their vans, they just cant be bothered to take them off and use them.

I have had 4 failed installations due to lazy engineers. The 5th one tried it on, but I told him if he didnt install, I would have his name and would report it to Jeremy Darroch, who is one of the Executives for Sky in the UK.

Got the job done. And he even cleaned up after himself.

    Dodgy company

To be fair it is high, and the bloke today did have all his harness and stuff on when he went up there.

I can understand why you are frustrated, sounds like they have taken the mickey with your installation.

Mines all turned out well, 2 days later I have sky where I want it and its half price for the next year! :o

Utter tripe! My partner worked for a Sub-Contractor for Sky and they have teams for people who work at heights. This company is a very large and well respected Sky installer, not some of the cowboys kicking about. This is due to health and safety, and usually happens when the engineer needs to step off the ladders for some reason. Usually this was the fault of the Call centre staff at the point of booking, and usually, like the op, it was discovered that it did say on the account that they required a special heights team. I sorry but my partner wouldn't risk his neck so some know-it-all could have their Sky installed (DebtHater, not the OP), it's not worth the risk! And if you had tried the "I'll report you to so-and-so" he would have quite happily let you!

Always makes me laugh how someone who doesnt even know the situation, doesnt know what they are going on about, can come on and argue the toss.

And I bet your partner is one of the lazy ones.

No, I just think they should stop being so lazy and get up the ladders that they have on their vans. It was only going above the living room window in my place, not even 1 storey

    Sky engineers = Lazy

    Now you get a life.
