Tax Credits Underpayment

Gave our up to date figures over the phone and realised that our estimated income for 2009/10 was £14500 and our actual income was £13100,i expected quite a large lump sum to cover the underpayment, but today received only £44 working tax credit into our bank account and no child tax credit.Am i missing something or will other payments follow?

your estimated 09-10 income may only have been affecting this yrs award. your payments for 09-10 will more than likely have been paid based on your 08-09 actual income rather than your 09-10 estimate.
do you know how much your actual income was for 08-09?

The tax credits you have been getting from this April will have been based on the 14500, now that the renewal has been completed they will now use your actual income. You may have been underpaid but only from April this year, if there is any underpayment for this year then it would usually be held as a potential payment.

Your 09/10 award was based on £10150 as it was the lesser of that current year estimate (£14500) and the previous year actual (£10150), so you would be unlikely to be due an underpayment from 09/10 due to income. As an above poster has said, you may have been underpaid since April (6th) this year based on the £14500 figure you'd given.
