TBH, I just park in the disabled bay when taking a family member to A+E. I do however, remain in the car just in case a disabled person turns-up and all the other bays are full.

I also get to witness some really stupid behaviour.

Last time I was parked-up, this African chap in a Zafira rolled-up to collect his wife (a nurse) at the end of her shift. They were just about to pull away when they spotted one of her friends (another nurse), the friend opened the back door of the car and unclipped a small baby from it's car seat and handed it to it's mum (nurse no. 1) in the front seat. The driver then removed the baby seat and put it in the boot. Nurse no.2 then climbed-in beside a second, much older child. Nurse no. 1 re-positioned the seatbelt around the baby, and off they went.

If they'ed had a crash, I wouldn't have given the baby much chance of survival.

I did get my phone out to call the Police, but the guy parked next to me commented on the scene and I looked away for a couple of seconds. By the time I looked back, the car had gone.

Patman, have you read your post, jeez?

You talk about stupid behaviour then park in a disabled space with I guess no legitimate reason or right to. You assume you will recognise a disabled person when they show up(discrimination). If someone who was entitled to park in a disabled space came along they would see your car in the space and think there was no-where to park. They would NOT think, oh goody that chap is looking out in case I need to park. How could you tell? You say an African chap (discrimination), how do you know?

    To Sir Roger:

I was merely warning people to be aware that some car parks have number plate recognition and some of these may be council controlled and issue legitimate parking fines.

My local airport car park has this facility and is local authority owned and operated. Its car park fines are enforceable.

FYI, in private car parks, disabled bays and parent/toddler bays have no legal existance, they are provided as a cutasy.

Yes, there is a legal requirement that they are provided, but no legal mechanism to enforce them. They are indeed a "courtesy".

    Really informative......

Why did you bump up a year old thread to say that?
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
