changing suppliers - tie in
Hi,
I am thinking of changing gas and elec supplier as I believe I can find a better deal.
As far as I see most if not all of the suppliers have a 1 year tie in once you switch.
This would not normally bother me however I am thinking of moving house hence would they still let you switch? How would you move over to the new supplier (new house), would you need to stay with the supplier you switched to in the new house
Any advice would be great
k
Ps. First post, lurked a while hence like to say hello

I didn't know any suppliers had a tie in period of a year - can you give examples?
Some people on this forum change suppliers more often than I have a bath*!
Some of the older fixed price deals had a penalty if you left before a certain period.

npower say (source - uswitch) "The discounts are not received if the customer leaves before the 12 months is up." Hence not tied in but not receiving the discount
Looking through some other T and C's, a lot to read 'though

While it's true some suppliers offer "annual" type discounts (Atlantic in particular springs to mind), most do not. In any case, if your basic savings are much more than the discount you would otherwise receive, there is nothing to stop you switching anyway.
